День Африки 2011
День Африки приходится на 25 мая и является официальным днем Африканского союза, преемника Организации африканского единства (ОАЕ). День Африки является возможностью, Африканский День - возможность праздновать африканское единство, разнообразие и успех; и присоединитесь к африканцам во всем мире за культурных и социальных выделение энергии континента.

Как часть 48-ого празднования 48-ого Дня Африки, Африканский Центр организовывал круглый стол на теме: ПРОДВИЖЕНИЕ АФРИКИ В УКРАИНЕ. Послы африканских стран в Украине и штата от африканского дипломатического корпуса, чиновников от неафриканских дипломатических миссий, Организации Объединенных Наций, Международной организации по Миграции и других учреждений, африканцев и украинцев участвовали в КРУГЛЫМ СТОЛОМ ДЕНЬ АФРИКИ 2011, ЗА КРУГЛЫМ СТОЛОМ, тема: ПРОДВИГАЯ АФРИКУ В УКРАИНЕ, 25 мая.

As part of the 48th Africa Day celebra- tion, the African Center organized a roundtable on the theme: PROMO- TING AFRICA IN UKRAINE. Ambassadors of African countries in Ukraine and staff from the African diplomatic corps, officials from non-African diplomatic missions, the United Nations, the International Organization for Migration and other institutions, Africans and Ukrainians participated in the AFRICA DAY 2011 ROUNDTABLE, theme: PROMOTING AFRICA IN UKRAINE, on 25 May.

The Center organized, co-organized and participated in several other activities in Kiev and other regions, being part of the week-long celebration. The activities include the grand manifestion of African culture and traditions through music, folklore, exhibiton of artifacts etc. at Khreshatik.
Africa Day is a major, international event that brings together Africans and non-Africans of all diversities. In Ukraine, African Center sees the celebration as a means to bridge the social and cultural divide; also to promote diversity and racial tolerance.

Этот важный день обеспечивает возможность лучше знать и понять Африку, что слово "Africa" не синонимично со словом "проблема". Когда мы думаем об Африке, в воображении есть проблемы экономических, социальных, природы безопасности. Но у африканского континента, у которого есть область приблизительно 30 миллионов квадратных километров, почти один миллиард жителей, есть огромный естественный и человеческий потенциал. Этот потенциал мог позволить континенту преодолеть все проблемы развития," сказал Посол Марокко Акрэйну Абделджэлилу Собри.

Сегодня мы отмечаем день основания, 48 лет назад, в 1963 году, Организации Африканского Единства, которая в 2002 году была трансформирована в нынешний Африканский Союз. С тех пор 25 мая стало днём, который празднуют все африканцы.

I fell in love with Africa when I visited the continent for the first time, on a trip to Cameroon for New Years 2000, over a decade ago. I knew when I left the continent after two short weeks that I had left a piece of my heart in Africa and that I would return.
Since then, I have been lucky enough to live and work and visit African countries as diverse as Ghana, Togo, Gabon, Cameroon, Sierra Leone, Benin, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Ethiopia, Tanzania, Mali and Mauritania.
Just like me, my country, the United States, also maintains very strong ties with Africa.

I am happy to be here today to join you to celebrate the Africa Day. As you know, the Africa Day is the annual commemoration on May 25 of the 1963 founding of the Organization of African Unity (OAU). On this day, leaders of 30 of the 32 independent African states signed a founding charter in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. In 2002 the OAU established the African Union as its own successor. The Africa Day has since been a celebration of African unity and progress.
The African continent has registered some progress since the era of our predecessors, Kwame Nkrumah and his contemporaries - I mean those who fought to regain independence for the various African communities. However, some fifty years after regaining independence, African countries have not yet achieved the liberty, unity, progress and development envisaged by their concerned forefathers.
